Travel FAQ

No we do not, vaccine records are not stored in a central database. The records stay at the site at which you were vaccinated. We encourage patients to keep a personal record of their immunizations in the form of paper copies. Patients can also use the CANImmunize App or access the portal from public health and enter any vaccinations they may have received.

Travelling can pose risks that may not be immediately obvious as there are many countries that still have outbreaks of diseases such as measles and rubella that are rarely seen here in Canada.
Our nursing team provides a thorough review of all your vaccines to date to ensure that we offer you the opportunity to update all vaccines that you may be eligible for. These personalized updates are provided to ensure that you are protected both here and abroad from vaccine preventable conditions.
We also provide an extensive evaluation of any required and recommended travel vaccines. Using the most UP TO DATE recommendations from the leading travel software only available to certified travel clinics, we can provide you with personalized recommendations for vaccines for current and future travel.
Our travel team will also provide a schedule for vaccine administration to optimize the antibody response prior to your departure. If any vaccines are required on your return, we will continue to provide support and guidance until your vaccine schedule is complete.

Traveling can be challenging and your concerns may start the minute you step foot on the airplane!
Our nurses will take a thorough history of your concerns to ensure we have understood your concerns and worries. Our team has extensive knowledge of the treatments that you would require for common requests such as anxiety about flying to more travel specific issues like traveling to altitude or prophylaxis for traveler's diarrhea or malaria.
-
Once you have undergone your consultation with our team and you have had an opportunity to ask any questions to your nurse, we will create a customized travel folder for you that included the destination specific itinerary with risks, your vaccine recommendations and schedule and any itinerary related guidance documents (packing list, first aid list etc).

A Mantoux tuberculin skin test is a test to check if a person has been infected with TB bacteria. Using a small needle a nurse will inject a liquid call tuberculin into the skin of the lower part of the forearm. When injected a small bump will appear. You will then return within 48-72 hours to have the nurse look for a reaction on the arm where the tuberculin was injected. The nurse will look for a raised, hard area or swelling. If there is a reaction the nurse will measure it’s size with a ruler. You will then be instructed to next steps if you have a reaction.
